Our Vision and Mission

Vision

“Creating Opportunities for Self Determination.”

Friends of Africa is a non-profit organization created to provide an environment of culture and an outlet to create for the next generation. With the advent of globalization and immigrants settling in the United States, there isn’t a comprehensive approach to cultural preservation for the next generation, who are referred to as “Third Culture Kids”.

FOA offers a different lens on Africa and Africans in a way that will not just be beneficial for the whole world but provide healing and collaborative restoration of the lost African Gems without focusing on exceptionalism. Through bootstrapping and community engagement, FOA has created a network of partners in the Houston community. FOA plans to expand and grow its reach to the wider African community in the US.

Mission

“To help the next generation find value in their areas of passion and interests by offering tools that will help explore new possibilities. We hope to help cultivate a unique appreciation for what is local while developing a global vision”
